His father James Colson Baker struggled with depression and unemployed and his mother Sonia Alane left them when the age of nine. Baker was moved to Denver with his father and stayed there for some time. Baker had to endure bullying from fellow kids because of his poverty. Delivering lyrics with the speed of a bullet train this Cleveland artist experienced a remarkable increase in the latter half of 2011 as Baker made the switch from releasing self-released mixtapes, to signing with reputed label. Over the next few years, every album he released was ranked at the top of the charts.
